I am happy that I had the privilege to meet Fred and listen to his accounts of his war history. I am also very proud to know his children and some of his grandchildren. What a tribute to this man! A decorated veteran and a dear family who loves him! The people we have in our lives are not totally gone,... they leave imprints of their love upon us! May God bless all of his surviving family and cherish all of the awesome memories! God Bless you Fred,.. You will be missed!

From the time I began teaching at Edison State, Fred was always there for me. Whenever I needed a Korean War veteran on a panel, when I needed a display, when I needed to interview a veteran for an article, Fred was there. He was an exemplary human being, and I'm so happy he was a part of my life and a part of the lives of the thousands of students whom he and
Ken Williamson taught. Fred, may you rest in peace, devoted husband, veteran, community servant, employee.

To the Shively family. Knowing Fred was a pleasure. His smile, warm sentiments, his positive life. Even though it has been many years since I last spoke with Fred I think of him and his family. I know he was a wonderful father and a kind person. We send our prayers and sympathies to all the family.

I remember Fred Shively delivering milk to the Bradford High School. He was always a kind and friendly man. During our freshman and sophomore years at Bradford, My classmate, Jeanette Amburgey and I would sneak down the firescape stairs and buy ice cream bars from Fred. He was so cool and we thought we were big shots getting away with our Daring Venture. My deepest sympathy to Mary and the Shively Family. I know many of you personally and my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.. RIP Fred Shively and God Bless Such A Wonderful Man!!

My prayers and sympathy to Mary, family and friends. Fred and Mary lived a couple houses away from Bud and me. He was the most active man I've ever known. Bud's history with Fred goes back to Bud's youth when he helped Fred on his milk route when in high school in the early 1950's. When Bud joined the Navy after graduation in 1955, Fred gave him his lucky silver dollar that he had carried with him during the Korean War. Bud carried that faithfully on his key chain. I returned it to Fred after Bud died in 1999. Mary, you're all in my heart and my prayers and I know Bud and Fred will reconnect in Heaven. God bless.
