Loretta Ann (Warner) Hoffman, age 80 of Laura, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Brookdale of Troy (Sterling House – Clare Bridge), after living seven years with Alzheimer’s. Loretta was born in West Milton on November 12, 1935 to the (late) Ralph & Iona (Croy) Warner. She was a graduate of Milton Union High School, Class of 1953. Before starting a family, Loretta worked for the West Milton telephone company. Loretta loved to be praised for her delicious pies and she baked pies for: Little Country Schoolhouse, West Milton, Carriage Stop, West Milton, and Tall Tales Inn, Laura; but her greatest love was  her family  and working around the family farm.  She was a life member of the Center Friends Church, West Milton, where she held many offices, including treasurer. She organized funeral dinners, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Loretta was very active with the USFW (United Society of Friends Women) and was a recipient of the prestigious Eliza Armstrong-Cox Award. She was a  member of the Laura Ladies Aid; baked pies for the Laura Lions Club lunch trailer; and for many years she served on the Miami County 4-H BBQ Committee while also serving with Union Twp. FISH. Loretta was passionate about the Kickapoo Indian Mission in Oklahoma.  She was also passionate about gardening, cooking, canning, and baking, and won many awards with her pies.  She was a Miami County Master Gardener.  Loretta received great pleasure from watching her children and grandchildren show livestock at the Miami County Fair.  Proceeded in death by her parents; husband of 52 years, Ralph Guy “Bud” Hoffman in 2006; and brother, Kenneth Warner.  Loretta is survived by her four children and their spouses, Neal & Geneva Hoffman of Laura, Martin & Teresa Hoffman of Round Rock, TX, Annette & Rick Loughman of West Milton, Carrie & Matt Welbaum of West Milton; 10 grandchildren, Breann & Jason Zickafoose, Jesse & Maggie Klepinger, Joshua Neal & Jessica Klepinger, Ashley & Ryan McCarroll, Spencer & Hanna Hoffman, Cooper Hoffman, Tressie Hoffman, Tegan Hoffman, Larkin Guy Welbaum, Darby Croy Welbaum; four step-grandchildren, R.D. Williams, Delena Schultz, Sarah & Tony Isbel, Elizabeth & Bryan Strausburg; eight great-grandchildren, Zak & Eli Klepinger, Paisley & Lola McCarroll, Lucy & AJ Zickafoose, Josie & Jed Neal Klepinger; four step-great-grandchildren, Taylor Layman, Thomas Schultz, Austin & Bradley Isbel; two sisters and brother-in-law, Glenna & Harry Renner of Pleasant Hill, Evelyn Uffen of Terre Haute, IN; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph (Junior) & Janie Warner of West Milton; nieces, nephews, and a wealth of friends.  Funeral service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, August 26 at Center Friends Church, West Milton.  Interment will be at Center Friends Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until time of service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of Miami County or Union Twp. FISH. The family wishes to thank  all the caregivers at Troy Sterling House and Clare Bridge for all their love, compassion, and wonderful care for  our mother.
