Madeline T. Apwisch passed away at Brookdale Senior Living in Troy, OH Sunday, January 14, 2018, at the age of 92.  She was the second oldest of eight children.  After attending Manchester College, she accepted a teaching position in New Madison, OH, where she met her future husband.  She taught elementary school for the Covington Exempted Village Schools for 25 years.  Madeline’s faith was extremely important to her and she was an active member of the Covington Church of the Brethren, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and served as a deacon.  She had a great love for family, friends and classical music.

 

Preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Louis Apwisch in 2008; parents, Benjamin and Treva (Longanecker) Timmons; and sister, Juanita Harnish.  Madeline is survived by her children, Kay Kurkowski, Becky Kohler, Ron (Pam) Apwisch, Chris (Jim) Sink, Mike Apwisch; 10 grandchildren, Brian (Tammy) Apwisch, Curt (Leanna) Apwisch, Daniel (Susan) Sink, Denise (Eric) Meador, Mary Jane (Rodney) Miller, Martha (Jared) Flory, Jesse Sink, Peter (Marie) Sink, Paul (Allison) Sink, Reuben Sink; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dan Timmons, Bob (Joann) Timmons, Glenn (Linda) Timmons; sisters, Phoebe Young, Mary (Bob) Neher, Yvonne Wages; other relatives and friends. 

 

Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Thursday at the Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington.  A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 PM Friday at the Covington Church of the Brethren.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Covington Outreach Association, P.O. Box 125, Covington, OH 45318 or Hospice of Miami County.

 

The family would like to thank dear friends Kathy, Katie, Francis, Marilyn, Phyllis, the Brookdale Clare Bridge and Hospice staff for the loving care of their mother.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
