Mary Kathryn Shumaker, age 87 of Springfield, formerly of Covington, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Eaglewood Nursing Home, Springfield.  Mary was born in Darke County on November 14, 1929 to the (late) David E. & Helen M. (Sampson) Manning; graduate of Franklin Rural High School, Class of 1947; upon graduate, Mary worked for BVD in Piqua; retired from Inland Mfg, Vandalia; attended Laura Christian Church; enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, and taking drives; but most of all having friends and family stop by their home for a visit and food.  Preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Helen Shumaker; brother, Eldon Manning; and sisters, Georgia Manning and Norma & husband, Harley Million.  Mary is survived by her husband of 68 years, Floyd E. Shumaker; two sons and daughters-in-law, Floyd A. & Sherry Shumaker of Sidney, Guy D. & Margie Shumaker of Springfield; grandchildren, Jenny (Joe) Wagner, Jon Shumaker and Sara (Phillip) Prueter; great-grandchildren, Josh, Jana & Mary Wagner; other relatives and friends.  A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 1:30 PM Monday at the Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington with Pastor Curt Duncan officiating.  Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 12:30 PM Monday until time of service.  The Shumaker family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Eaglewood Care Center in Springfield, as well as Ohio’s Community Mercy Hospice.  Contributions may be left in Mary’s name to Laura Christian Church or Ohio’s Community Mercy Hospice.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com
