I knew Pat through the alumnae chapter of Delta Zeta Sorority. She attended quite a few events over the years and I frequently picked her up at her apartment by Patterson Road. She was a unique lady who never ceased to entertain us with stories of her many travels. She will be missed. My sympathy to her family. Jan Kowal

Aunt Pat was one of a kind. We were blessed to know her. She will always be our guiding spirit when we travel. Pat could travel for a month to the other side of the world with just a carry-on bag. I always think, "Pack like Pat" to minimize stuff that needs to be carried, or could potentially be lost, and try to travel with only a small, carry-on travel pack. And nothing could stop her from traveling, not even the threat of terrorism. After 9/11, she would take the bus from Dayton to Toronto for flights because she knew it was safer to travel out of Canada. Nancy or I would take her to the Crown Plaza Hotel very early in the morning so that she could wait in the lobby hotel until the next door Greyhound station opened.
One of her other hobbies seemed to be doctor appointments. When she lived in Dayton, my late sister Nancy, my wife, or I often took her to appointments at various buildings on our near Miami Valley Hospital. I miss that. Often, she would refuse a pickup because she wanted to take the bus here and there, and everywhere after the appointment. I miss her non-stop talking during car drives (because you could go to your own happy place and pretend to listen if the talking became overwhelming :).
I also miss taking Pat to Cheeseburgers and Cold Beer on Patterson Road in Dayton for lunch now and then. She always brought a Tupperware container that she could pour her extra Coke into. God bless Pat.

Dear Betty and family,
I have been of Pat (as she liked to have us call her) recently and wondering about her because I hadn't heard from her for such a long time. I wasn't sure how to contact anyone who might know. I am so very sorry I didn't get to talk with her recently. We used to visit by phone when not convenient to visit personally after she moved back to Dayton. I remember going to the park with you when I was quite young and I was visiting my Grandmother Streib, but learned to know Pat later when we were at NCR and after. My very sincere condolences to all the family; I will keep all of you in my prayers. If there is anything at all that I can do for you, please let me know.
