Richard "Dick" "Supie" Supinger Obituary

Richard “Dick” “Supie” Lewis Supinger, age 86, of Nolensville, TN, formerly of Covington, OH died Friday, February 2, 2018.  He was born December 23, 1931 to Lawrence Calvin & Ruby Esther (Colbert) Supinger in Covington, OH and he never forgot it was home; a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1949, where he was the one time holder of many school records; attended Manchester College where he was both kicker & quarterback for the football team; a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force in the 68th Fighter Interceptor Squadron serving in Japan during the Korean Conflict, where he was awarded 6 medals, including a Bronze Star; served as a volunteer fireman in Covington & Kettering, CO.5; a life member of the American Legion, Miamisburg #165; a member of the F&AM Franklin Lodge #14, Troy & #168 Covington; a Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Valley of Dayton; a member of Royal Arch Masons of OH, Franklin #24; a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton.  He retired in March 1989 from IBM after 35 years of service, where he joined as a Field Engineer installing & servicing many first time computer installations in businesses throughout the Dayton area.  At IBM he climbed the ranks of management and held the title of Branch Manager in Evansville, IN, Cincinnati, OH & Nashville, TN.  He became a Region Personnel Manager in Cincinnati as well as Chicago, IL.  He met many a lifelong friend in his work career and found time to stay connected thru spring fishing trips and summer trips to Manitoulin Island in Ontario in search of game fish, Northern Pike & Muskie.  After retirement, he realized his lifelong dream to build his own home & barn on a 5 acre property where he lived with his wife, Dixie, just south of Nashville, TN.

Preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Ada (Bud) Minnich; son, Richard Kevin Supinger; son-in-law, Wayne Mills; infant sister, Sally Sue Supinger; aunts, Fairy Farmer, Mary (Roy) Fashner, Edith (Harvey) Medlam; uncles, Wesley Colbert, Bruce (Alma) Colbert.

Dick is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dixie Lee (Tarlton) Supinger; children, Lynne (Jake) Standifird of Nolensville, TN; Aaron Supinger of Nolensville, TN, Janel Supinger (Rick Burkardt) of Livonia, MI, Carol Mills of Nolensville, TN; 6 grandchildren, John (Beth) Standifird of San Antonio, TX, William (Sharon) Standifird of Fulshear, TX, Richard Daron (Heather) Standifird, Logan Standifird, Jack Mills, all of Nolensville, TN, Cali Burkardt of Livonia MI; 5 great grandchildren, Alex, Brad, Alyssa, Cade, Mason Standifird; sisters in law, Carol (Richard) Ward of Sidney, Shirley Herzog of Piqua; cousins, Idonna Fashner of Piqua, Karen McBride of Green Cove Springs, FL, Joan Graves, Patty Altic, both of Covington, Shirley Derr of Webster; & other relatives & friends.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington.  Interment Highland Cemetery with Military Honors.  Visitation will be held Sunday 3-7 at the funeral home.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
