Ruth Joan Hess, age 90, of Cumberland Furnace, TN, formerly of Covington, OH died August 25, 2016 in Dickson, TN.  She was born July 6, 1926 in Covington, OH where she was also raised.  Her father called her his “firecracker” when she was born.  She graduated from Covington High School in 1944.  She was married and later divorced her first husband, Charles Stover.  They had one child – Elaine.  She met and later married her current husband, Vernon, on February 15, 1953.  They were married for over 63 years and had two children – Gail and Johanna.  She worked many years for Hobart Corp (now – ITW) until she moved to TN in late 1979.  She went to work a few years for a nursing home in Cumberland City, TN.  She then got a job working for Jostens Yearbook Company in Clarksville, TN from which she retired at age 79.  Ruth loved the Lord and enjoyed talking to anyone about Jesus.  She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Dickson, TN. 

Ruth is survived by her husband, Vernon Hess of Cumberland Furnace, TN, 2 daughters, Elaine Wintrow (LeRoy) of Covington, OH & Johanna Hess Willey of Cumberland Furnace, TN; 2 sisters, Janice Coate of OH & Grace Boeke (Maurice) of OH; 7 grandchildren, Lora Kinney, Kevin Wintrow (Andrea), Leslie Parker (Bob), Matthew Sproat, Sarah Nowak (Aaron), Nicole Rogers, and Jonathan Willey; 12 Great Grandchildren, Andrew, Ethan, Airk, Damia, Travis (Tessa), Victoria “Tori”, Dustin “Dusty” (Krystal), Kyle, Gabe, Christopher, Caitlyn, and Austyn; & 4 Great Great Grandchildren, Dallas, Ryan, Briella, and Peyton.

A Visitation & Service was previously held in TN on August 27, 2016, for her family & friends in that area.  A Separate Visitation & Service with burial will be held at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home in Covington, OH on Saturday, September 3, at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Jerry Collins officiating.  Interment Highland Cemetery, Covington.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
