Billie "Jack" Hale

Billie “Jack” Hale, age 83 of Bradford, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024 at his home.  Jack was born in Council, Buchanan County, Virginia on January 16, 1941 to the (late) Elden & Roxie (Breeding) Hale; U.S. Army veteran; retired from DAP, Dayton; enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, camping, anything outdoors; avid horseback riding (trail riding); worked as a farrier; enjoyed watching NASCAR races; restored classic muscle cars, and in the past built and raced drag cars.  Preceded in death by his parents; wife of 43 years, Jo Ann Hale in 2011; two brothers, Buck Hale and Jerry Hale; and two brothers-in-law, Frank Viers and Bernard Taylor.  Jack is survived by his three children, Jackie Hartman of Bradford, Billie Platfoot & Steve Bey of Versailles, Roxie and husband, Ty Thwaits of Greenville; seven grandchildren Ashley & Eli Oliver, Kendra & Daniel Foreman, Jennifer & Cole Brickler, Kaleb & Amanda Earick, Preston Platfoot, Paige Platfoot, & Payton Platfoot; 10 great-grandchildren, Emmalin, Adaline, Harper, Reid, Landon, Sutton, Andrew, Palmer, Waylon, & Rylie; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ben & Linda Hale, Tom & Brenda Hale; four sisters and brother-in-law, Bobbie Viers, Pauline Gillespie, Lill & Lloyd Hurst, & Trish Taylor; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Funeral Service 11:00 AM Saturday at Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Bradford with Pastor Mark Lynch officiating.  Interment Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford with Military Honors provided by Veterans Elite Tribute Squad.  Visitation 5-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may to the American Cancer Society.
