DeWayne D. Shurte, age 67, lifetime resident of Bradford, died Saturday, September 9, 2017 at his home.  He was born May 6, 1950 in Pinehurst, NC to the late Richard & Ruby (Swabb) Hawes; a graduate of Bradford High School, Class of 1968; attended the First Baptist Church in Tipp City; a volunteer for many years with Bradford Fire & Rescue; retired from Do It Best Hardware in Vandalia; a handyman; the best jokester ever; his sassiness will be missed.

Preceded in death by his parents. DeWayne is survived by his wife of 16 years, Karen (English) Shurte; daughter, DeOnna (Ronnie) McGhee of TX; step-daughter, Brandi (Matt) Kuder of Troy; granddaughter, Sophia Kuder; sister, Linda (Steve) Smith of Bradford; nieces, nephews & many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Greenville Creek Christian Church, 5110 Buckneck Rd, Bradford, with Pastors Daryl Peeples & Gary Boggs officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
