Janice J. Hayes

Janice J. Hayes, 78 of Covington, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 at her home.  Janice was born in New Carlisle, OH on March 1, 1940 to the (late) William & Rosie (Lofton) Sherman; a graduate of Northwestern High School, Class of 1958; had worked at Spring Hill Nursery, Tipp City for 20+ years; a member of the Covington Church of the Brethren; was called the “Angel Lady” because of her handmade angel crafts, she also made beaded crosses, crocheted baby blankets, slippers, dish clothes and potholders, and she made all these and donated them.  Preceded in death by her parents; husband, James L. Hayes in 1997l two grandsons, Douglas & Thomas Hayes; and two brothers, Bill & Bob Sherman.  Janice is survived by her four children, Sandra Burns of Covington, James H. & Melissa Hayes of Troy, Ginny Hayes of Covington, Thomas William & Joanna Hayes of Covington; five grandchildren, Samuel Burns, Jamie & Aaron Dennis, James & Cyndi Hayes, Joshua Hayes, Micheal Hayes; five great-grandchildren, Katherine Dennis, Charlotte Dennis, Aaron Dennis Jr. Jonathan Dennis, Payton Burns; two brothers, John & Lori Sherman of WV, Thomas Sherman of Tucson, AZ; two sisters, Juanita Boyd of Donnellsville, OH, Betty Jean Fitzpatrick of Tucson, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  Funeral service 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Covington Church of the Brethren with Pastor Mike Yingst officiating.  Interment Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington.  Visitation 5-8 PM Monday at the church.  If desired, contributions may be made to Ohio Hospice of Miami County.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.  Janice will be especially missed by her dog, Roxie and her cat, Pety!
