July 1, 1940 – April 1, 2026
Barbara Ann Wykel, born Barbara Ann Shields, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 1, 2026, at the age of 85. A woman of steadfast faith, Barbara lived her life rooted in the love of Christ and the fellowship of her church family at the Fayetteville Church of the Nazarene, where her faith was not simply something she practiced on Sundays, but the quiet foundation of everything she was.
Barbara had a gift for the simple joys of life. Whether working through a challenging crossword puzzle or cheering along with her favorite game shows, she approached her days with patience, wit, and a contented spirit that those who knew her will never forget.
She is survived by her beloved son, Steve Wykel, and his wife Judy; her grandchildren, Christopher Wykel and Sarah Blackwood; and her four great-grandchildren, who were among the greatest gifts of her long and faithful life.
Barbara is now home — reunited with those who went before her, and resting in the peace that surpasses all understanding. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
