Betty A. Mayo

Betty A. Mayo, age 98 of Celina, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at Ohio Hospice of Miami County.  Betty was born in Shelby County on July 12, 1928 to the (late) Ben & Agnes (Alexander) Varno.  She retired with 28 years of service from Sunoco Products, Piqua and had previously worked for five years at Val Deckers, Piqua.  Betty was a member of the Southshore Club, Celina; Celina Moose; and Celina Eagles.  She loved to dance barefooted, play cards, fish, and loved her “some snacks.”  Preceded in death by her parents; two sons, David Mayo and Jerry Mayo; son-in-law, Mark Poling; three sisters, Thelma Pence, Kathleen Bausman, and Romania “Dote” Burns; brother, Tom Varno; and best friend, Otis Seas.  Betty is survived by her daughter, Judy Poling of Celina; son, Greg Mayo of FL; eight grandchildren, Robyn (Ian) Brown, Brandy (Russell) Allen, Chrissie (Ronnie) Allison, Jarid (Jennifer) Mayo, Matt (Julie) Mayo, Sara (Jeff) Petit, Allison Mayo, and Jamie (Jason) Brumbaugh; 13 great-grandchildren, Kadlynn, Haleigh, Lisa, Isabel, Beckham, Gabe, Lucy, Quinn, Nathan, Carter, Axel, Ava and Luke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Funeral Service 4:30 PM Saturday, September 12th at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington with grandson, Jarid Mayo officiating.  Visitation 2:00 PM until time of service.  Condolences may be shared with the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
