Carol Ann Mottinger

Carol Ann Mottinger, age 78 of Bradford, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville.  Carol was born in Piqua on May 19, 1943 to the (late) Jay Allen & Bette Jean (Trydle) Johnson; attended Bradford schools; was a Deputy Clerk of Courts for Miami County Courts for 17 years; was a former Fire Belle for Bradford Fire & Rescue; owned Carol’s Dress Shop, Bradford & Piqua; member of the Order of Eastern Stars and served in all positions; attended Common Ground Church (formerly Bradford Church of the Brethren); a member of the Bradford Railroad Museum; but her greatest love that she did for 53 years was rescuing animals, mostly cats.  Preceded in death by her parents; stillborn son, Patrick Alan Mottinger, July 23, 1969; sisters-in-law, Linda Johnson and Vonnie Owen; and nephew, Tom Owen.  Carol is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jan Alan Mottinger; sister and brother-in-law, Jayne & John Cassidy of Columbus, OH; brother, Gary Allen Johnson of Bradford; nieces and nephews, Cindy & Jeremy Baird, Chad Johnson, D.J. & Ping Perkins; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William & Ann Mottinger of Portland, Oregon; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tamara & Nolan Harrison of Troy; nieces and nephews by marriage, Sandra Owen, Jerry & Debbie Owen, Mark Harrison, Mike Harrison, Brad & Sinead Harrison, and Janice Mottinger; and other relatives and friends. Funeral Service 11:00 AM Thursday at Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Bradford.  Interment Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington.  Gathering of Family and Friends 5-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bradford Fire & Rescue or the Miami County Animal Shelter.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
