Catherine “Cat” E. Pennybacker, age 74 of Troy, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Koester Pavilion, Troy. Cat was born in Piqua on August 18, 1949 to the (late) Clarence & Mary (Goubeaux) Weidner; had her Associate Degree in Business/Industrial Management; had previously worked for Hobart, Troy; a past member of the St. Paris Sportsman Club; St. Paris VFW Post #7645; and a Miami County Park District Volunteer; a current member of the American Legion Post #586, Tipp City; VFW Post #5436 Troy, Life Member; and the Troy Eagles Aerie #971 Ladies Auxiliary; she truly enjoyed camping, fishing and sitting by the fire with friends. Preceded in death by her parents; and brother, David Weidner. Cat is survived by her husband of 17 years, Ronald “Ron” Pennybacker; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda & Todd Harris of Tipp City, Darcy & Colin Spangler of Sidney; three step-sons, Matt & Katrina Pennybacker of Maryland, Doug Pennybacker and Sam Pennybacker, both of Troy; four grandchildren, Joshua Harris, Garret & wife, Anna Harris, Brandon Goodnight, and Philipp Harris; two step-grandchildren, Jenna Pennybacker and Taylor Pennybacker; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette & Thomas Stephenson of Bradford; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles & Carol Weidner of Houston, OH and Sam & Linda Weidner of Piqua; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Memorial Service Saturday, January 20th. 12 Noon at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington with Pastor Dan Scalf officiating. Visitation 10:00 AM Saturday the 20th until time of service at the funeral home. Interment of Cremains to follow at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington.
