Dallas L. Weldy, age 73 of Bradford, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025 in Florida. Dallas was born in Arcanum on March 11, 1951 to the (late) Richard K. Weldy & Patricia (McMaken) Anderson. He was a member of the Bradford Community Club and the AMVETS Post #66 Covington; began his service as an auxiliary patrolman on the Bradford Police Department in 1979, became a full time patrolman in 1981; was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police in 1988, then promoted to Chief of Police in 1990; on April 17, 1993, Dallas retired from the Bradford Police Department; but Dallas loved his community and did not stop there, he became Mayor of Bradford on January 1, 1996 and served off and on as Mayor, Council and Zoning member until his retirement as Mayor on May 8, 2014; he and his wife owned a town business, Weldy’s Dairy Bar and also they both were Grand Marshals of the Pumpkin Show Parade in 2023; served as President of the Pumpkin Show for many years; loved to fish; enjoyed woodworking, building houses, and building and working on many projects; he enjoyed going to Florida for the winter; he loved his family and he loved serving his community. Preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Kate Weldy; his in-laws, Woneda & Irvin Weaver; brother, Ralph Lacey; sister, Debra Rice; and best friend, Merle Haben. Dallas is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha M. Weldy; his three children, Tabatha & Cully Canan, Dallas “Bud” & Magen Weldy, and Buffie & Jake Fashner; grandchildren, Brittany Moore & Mas Pangelinan, Mackenzie & Caleb Bickley, Aspen Weldy, Karissa Weldy, Kendall Weldy, Parker Cromes, Scarlett Miller, Hayden Davidson, Drew Canan, Parker Davidson, Bryant & Alisha Apple, and Kennedy Fashner; four great-grandchildren, Harper, Violet, Ivy & Araelee; two sisters, Barb Wolf and Tammy Anderson; brother and sister-in-law, Art & Betty Lloyd; his dog, Zoey; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
