Darcy Harrison-Spade Obituary

Darcy Lynne Harrison-Spade, 56, of Covington, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Ohio Hospice of Dayton. Darcy was born in Troy on October 7, 1968 to the (late) Donald Lee Harrison and Nancy Ann (Brumbaugh) Harrison.

She will be missed and remembered by the daughter she adored, Kaitlin (Eric) White of Franklin, dear son Kody Spade of Troy; precious grandson Arbor Spade; and her kitty, Lily. She is survived by two beloved sisters, Denise (Bob) Boyer and Annie Harrison (Jay Victor) of Covington; nieces, Jessica Robinson, Dianna Burgess-Hinger, Chelsea Robinson and Kate Karayannis; and nephew, Jeremey Robinson. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donnie Harrison; sister, Debbie Burgess; and two nephews, Daniel Burgess and John Karayannis.

Darcy was a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1987, and attended the JVS earning a certificate in Data Processing. She worked at Electro Controls in Sidney for 16 years where she was much loved by her coworkers. She was employed for many years in early childcare at the Piqua YMCA.

Darcy’s gentle spirit and generous nature made her a favorite of all she met. She braved many hardships during her life but remained cheerful and encouraging to others even on her bad days. She raised two wonderful children on her own and was overjoyed when she became a grandmother.

Darcy battled cancer for nearly four years. Her doctors and nurses admired her determination to overcome her illness despite many setbacks. She loved to swim and be at the ocean, and her mantra for survival was from the movie “Finding Nemo” and Dory saying, “Just Keep Swimming!”  During her last hospital stay, a nurse placed a photo of Dory in Darcy’s room and she received a little stuffed turtle that kept her going. Just keep swimming.

She was a talented crafter, enjoyed doing Diamond Art; loved flowers (but not watering them) and watching true crime dramas. She loved family parties and was always the first to arrive for the fun. She was a kind and true friend to many, and she will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future, and Darcy will be laid to rest next to Donnie at Miami Memorial Park. If desired, contributions may be made to Ohio Hospice of Dayton.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
