David “Dave” E. Jay, age 70 of Covington, passed away Monday, July 13, 2020 at his home. Dave was born in Piqua on August 10, 1949 to the (late) David Minnich & Kathryn Lucille (Wilhelm) Jay; a graduate of Bradford High School, Class of 1967; retired from Meijer’s Distribution, Tipp City; previously worked at Dinner Bell for 20 years and had previously worked at Piqua Concrete; previous volunteer Bradford Fireman; previous member of Bradford Community Club and the Moose Lodge, Troy; he was an excellent cook and at one time was invited to cook for Charlie Daniels; enjoyed shooting, hunting, fishing, 4-Wheeling; and playing golf; had ridden a glider in Colorado which he enjoyed and went jeep riding with his family in the mountains; went elk hunting with his boys; he enjoyed many zoo trips with the family but most of all he loved being with his kids and grandkids. Dave is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cindy L. (Pence) Jay; his children, Timothy David & Tabitha Jay of Clarksville, OH, Kenneth & Missy Jay of Covington, Amanda & Jeff Placke of Union, OH, Jerrod & June Baughn of Washington Court House, OH; five grandchildren, Allison Jay, Benjamin Placke, Addison Baughn, Rosalie Jay & Shannon Jay; sister and brothers, Janice & Larry Sarver of Covington, Tom Jay of Bradford, Dennis & Marie Jay of Troy; mother-in-law, Janet Hawkins & Steve Althouse of Washington Court House, OH; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service 5:30 PM Friday at Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Bradford with Pastor Daryl Peeples officiating. Visitation 3:30 PM until time of service.
