Douglas "Doug" Manson Obituary

Douglas “Doug” Earl Manson, age 81 of Piqua, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024 at his home.  Doug was born in Piqua on April 16, 1943 to the (late) Paul & Mary (Calloway) Manson; graduate of Piqua Central High School, Class of 1961; worked for many years at Ohio Bell, Piqua and then for U.S. West Phone Company, Montana; while in Montana he ran a successful business also and he coached the American Legion Baseball team that went to State and won that year; moved to West Virginia and ran another successful business, he also was on the Transition Committee for then Joe Manchin, Governor and remained his friend for many years; Social Member of the Knights of Columbus, Piqua; loved working with kids; he enjoyed telling stories and traveling, one trip Doug and Sandy went on an 11 day rafting trip on the River of No Return, Idaho and Doug declared that was his best trip ever; and he loved his dog, Molly.  Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marty Manson.  Doug is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandra L. Manson; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Rich & Linda Manson of Colville, Washington, Dean & Stephanie Manson of Bridgeport, West Virginia; and Jeff & Staci Manson of Spokane, Washington; grandchildren, Justin & his wife, Samantha Manson, Trevor Manson, Heather & her husband, Dylan Schultz, Marcus Manson, Tanner Manson, and Shelby Smith; great-grandson, Feliz Manson; two brothers and sister-in-law, Ken Manson of Piqua, Larry & Kay Manson of Piqua; two sisters and brother-in-law, Tami & Don Motter of Piqua and Joyce Brotz of Depew, New York; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.  Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.  If desired, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital, Ohio Hospice of Miami County, or Miami County Humane Society.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.  The family wants to thank Hospice for their care of Doug, especially Rhonda.
