Eleanor Jean Idle, age 85 of Union City, OH, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. Eleanor was born in Trion, Georgia on October 1, 1937 to the (late) Cicero & Mamie (Cordell) Hill; graduated from Christiansburg-Jackson High School, Class of 1955; retired with 44 years of service from Hobart Corp/ITW/FEG; enjoyed bowling with leagues until she was 64 years old; a member of the Order of Eastern Stars, Olivet Chapter #538 for 67 years; played and coached softball until she was 55 years old; and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Holly Sue Crabtree; three brothers, Boyce Hill, Edward Hill, and Hugh Hill; and five sisters, Beatrice Hill, Estalena Miller, Betty Shook, Ella Mae Davy, and Janie Sue Pinkerman. Eleanor is survived by her two children, Craig and wife, Pamela Idle of Union City, OH, Susan Flora of Union City, OH; three grandchildren, Jami Keen, Christian Idle, and Kelsey & husband, Kyle Walters; six great-grandchildren, Cash Jenkinson, Natalie Seiber, Alyssa Idle, Allyson Idle, Aliyah Idle, and Ameliya Idle; her companion, her dog, Lewis; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Service Sunday, May 7th at the Christiansburg Masonic Temple, 203 N. Main Street, Christiansburg, OH 45389. The visitation will be 1-4 PM with the Eastern Star memorial service with a memorial ceremony to follow with Pastor Roderick Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Eastern Stars Olivet Chapter #538.
