Floyd H. Greer, age 96 of Versailles, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. Floyd was born in Darke County on September 18, 1929 to the (late) Clarence & Bertha (Mickel) Greer; was a Butcher at Valdecker’s Packing Company; a member of Bradford United Methodist Church; built five homes starting in 1957 when he was 27 years old on Liberty Street in Bradford, followed by one on Rt. 721 South, one on Rt. 36 West, in 1976 one on St.Rt. 48 in Covington and finally in 1979 in Versailles, where he has lived ever since. Floyd was a hard worker and a great provider. Preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 69 years, Virgie (Elifritz) Greer in 2018; sister, Olive Greer; three brothers, Denver, Jim, and Andrew Greer; and two nephews, Fred Greer and Gary Greer. Floyd is survived by his daughter, Brenda Greer Stump of Greenville; grandson, Matt VanCulin; niece, Marilyn & Wayne O’Conner of Centerville; nephew, John & Jill Greer of Troy; great nieces and nephews; special friends, Jack & Jody Smith of Versailles and family, James, Nicholas, and Bellatrix; and Brenda’s sister by other mother, Janet Wideman. Funeral Service 1:00 PM Thursday, March 5th at Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Bradford with Pastor Sam Shilot officiating. Interment Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington.
