Gary "Slob" H. Kinnison

Gary “Slob” H. Kinnison, age 89 of Bradford, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at his home.  Gary was born in Pleasant Hill on December 31, 1934 to the (late) Harold “Bounce” & Dorothy (Lowry) Kinnison; a graduate of Newton High School, Class of 1952; worked on the family farm and started driving a truck at age 14 and continued driving a truck and worked at Sidney Trucking with the Union before retiring with 30 years of service; a member of various Eagles, AMVETS Post #66, Covington, Moose, and  VFW Post #4235 Covington; started and was a Charter Member of Bradford Community Club; he loved Christmas decorations inside and outside; in his younger years, he played men’s fastpitch softball, a traveling league; enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cincinnati Reds; after retirement, he loved working in his yard and planting flowers; he loved to entertain and host every Friday night at “Slob’s Place”; but Gary’s passion was golf – he was a member and worked at Stillwater Valley Golf Course, he played in different leagues – he told his kids that he had played at 70 golf courses.  Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Sonya Baker and Margaret “Joan” Johnson; and two sons-in-law, Don Canan and Jim Carine.  Gary is survived by his seven children and their spouses, Steve & Sharon Root of Covington, Jackie & Larry Thompson of Bradford, Linda Canan of Bradford, Marilyn Carine of Bradford, Pam & Pete Palsgrove of Bradford, Harold & Sara Kinnison of Bradford, Tom & Chatty Kinnison of Piqua; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Diana McConnaughey of Oxford, NE and Susie Johnson of Tipp City; his rescue cat, Chester; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Visitation 3-7 PM Thursday at Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Bradford.  The family will have a Celebration of Life August 23rd, 4-8 PM at the Stillwater Valley Golf Course.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bradford’s Summer Smile, Inc.
