Obituary

Harriet Jean Beard, age 89, of College Station, Texas, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at her home.  Harriet was born in Covington on August 2, 1933 to the (late) Harry E. & Dessie A. (Davis) Coon; graduated from Covington High School in 1951; had previously worked at a Covington Bank; was a co-author alongside her husband, Dr. James B. Beard, who preceded her in death in 2018; was a decades-long Aggie sports fan, an avid bridge player, a patron of the Arts; a world traveler; an avid reader; and an excellent home chef.  Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings, Velma Magee, Mary Ellen Landis, Margaret Mock, Mildred Reed, and William Coon.  Harriet is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, Jim & Regina Beard, John Beard; her granddaughter, Amanda and her husband, Rusty Harrison; along with two great-grandsons, James and Wesley Harrison; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Graveside Service Saturday, May 13th, at 10:00 AM at Greenville Creek Cemetery, Bradford where Harriet will be laid to rest beside her loving husband.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
