Helen M. (Bass) Puterbaugh

Helen M. (Bass) Puterbaugh, age 99 of Bradford, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025 at Vancrest Upper Valley of Troy (formerly Koester Pavilion).  Although Helen was a resident of Bradford during most of her life, she was born in Clay County, Illinois, on May 28, 1926 to the (late) Ira E. and Ruby Lou (Blair) Bass and was a graduate of Lewisville High School in Illinois.  She moved to Dayton, Ohio to seek employment where she met her late husband, Paul Puterbaugh a WWII Veteran.  Helen retired after 20 years of employment at Copeland Corporation; was a member of the Friedens Lutheran Church, Covington; a member of the VFW Post #6557 in Pleasant Hill; a lifetime member of the AMVETS Post #66, Ladies Auxiliary, Covington; and was a member of the Versailles Eagles Aerie #2347.  Most importantly, her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Paul Puterbaugh in 1967; her sister, Harriet Wood; brother-in-law, Hilton Wood; and two brothers, Charles Bass and infant Ralph Bass.  Helen is survived by her children, Roger Puterbaugh, John (Janice) Puterbaugh; Vivian (Mark) Melhado, Doris (Steve) Klein, and Brenda (Joe) Wilson; eight grandchildren, Brandon Yount, Russell Yount, Kristen (Matt) Lockhart; Haley Puterbaugh, Ross Puterbaugh, Chelsie (Nathan) Standeford, Katherine (Jeremy Rhodes) Wilson, and Daniel Wilson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, November 5th, at 11:00 AM at Friedens Lutheran Church, 11038 W. Versailles Road, Covington with Pastor Ippy Mwakabonga officiating. Interment will follow at Friedens Cemetery.  The family will receive family and friends from 10:00 AM Wednesday until time of service at the church.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
