James "Jim" R. Smith

James R. “Jim” Smith, age 57 of Bradford, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023 at the Ohio State University Hospital, The James Cancer Center, Columbus.  Jim was born in Troy on May 8, 1966; graduate of Bradford High School, Class of 1984; owner/operator of Smitty’s Village Pizza and Drive Thru, Bradford; an avid golfer, “golfing was his life”; an Officer of AMVETS Post #66, Covington; and Jim will be remembered by his smile!  Preceded in death by his brother, Gary Smith; grandparents, John & Maxine Sanders, who he took care of for many years.  Jim is survived by his mother and step-father, Georgia (Sanders) & John Hartzell of Bradford; daughter and son-in-law, Amy Smith & husband, Evan Freer of Columbus; granddaughter, Eleanor Freer; girlfriend, Julie Reck of Bradford and her children, Dillon Reck, Macie Reck, & Dalton Reck; his three siblings, Brenda & Kent Canan of Bradford, Bob & Charlene Hartzell of Greenville, Randy Hartzell of Greenville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Celebration of Life and Gathering of Family and Friends at 7:00 PM Saturday at the Bradford Community Club.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio State University Hospital, The James Cancer Center, Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
