Jane Ellen Lavy

Jane Ellen Lavy, age 70 of Covington, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at her home.  Jane was born in Piqua on March 24, 1955 to the (late) Victor C. & Reva M. (Huffman) Batdorf; a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1973; was co-owner of Lavy Concrete for 25 years.   She received her first pony when she was ten years old and graduated to bigger horses, it began a lifelong love of 4-H and horseback riding.  It is said she sold one of her horses because her family needed a refrigerator and that shows the character of Jane – loving and caring.  Jane enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables, but most important, Jane was an excellent caregiver to her family.  Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Van Batdorf.  Jane is survived by her loving husband of 53 ½ years, Terry Lee Lavy; her children, Amber R. & Rodney Stephenson of Covington and Benjamin R. “Ben” & Mollie Lavy of Covington; her grandchildren, Ian Wilson and his fiancée, Amy Eilerman, Samantha & David Showalter, Megan Lange & Clayton Benefiel, Joel W. Lavy, Emma Wilson, and Maria Stephenson; one great-grandchild on the way; her siblings, Rita & Rowland Shaffer of Cable, OH, Charlene & Ed Ingle of Covington, Dan & Tawni Batdorf of Covington; her co-owned beloved dog, Izzy; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Celebration of Life Service at 12 Noon Saturday at the Covington Church of the Brethren with Pastor Paul Hickernel officiating.  Visitation 10:00 AM Saturday until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio Hospice of Miami County or Brukner Nature Center.   Condolences may be shared with the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
