Joann M. Freeman

Joann M. Freeman, age 86 of Covington, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Ohio Hospice of Miami County.  Joann was born in Willowdale, Ohio on November 23, 1937 to the (late) Harold H. & Eleanor (Berger) Hartzell; a graduate of Versailles High School, Class of 1956; retired from Stanley Automation, Covington; enjoyed cutting coupons; loved visiting with her friends; loved Santa Claus trinkets of all kinds; helped with her grandchildren; and most of all was a giving and extraordinary mother.  Preceded in death by her parents; husband, James H. Freeman of 57 years in 2022; infant son; grandson, Kyle Freeman; brother-in-law, Paul Bodenmiller; and sister-in-law, Jean Hartzell.  Joann is survived by her son, James B. “Jim” Freeman of Vandalia; three grandchildren, Amanda Knight, Ashlie Freeman, and Tyler Freeman; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn & Donald Waymire of Versailles; brother, Jerome Hartzell of Versailles; sister-in-law, Darlene Bodenmiller of Covington; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Prayer Service 2:00 PM Friday at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington with Father Jim Duell officiating.  Interment Highland Cemetery, Covington.  Visitation 1:00 PM Friday until time of service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Covington Fire & Rescue Department.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
