Joyce Elaine (Stickelman) Dunn

Joyce Elaine (Stickelman) Dunn, age 93, of Covington, Ohio, passed away on February 9, 2023, less than two months after losing her beloved husband, Frank. She was born on September 5, 1929, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Frank and Ruby (Hart) Stickelman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gail Stickelman. She is survived by her sister, Janet Morris.

On August 29, 1953, she married Frank Dunn, and they were married for sixty-nine years until his passing on December 17, 2022.  Joyce is survived by her children: Tom (Cinda) Dunn of Troy, Jane (Mike) Cotrell of Urbana, Paula (Mike) Varno of Covington, and Steve (Kim) Dunn of Covington; eight grandchildren: Brian Dunn, Courtney Carpenter, Andy Cotrell, Brooke Jones, Michael Varno, Matthew Varno, Nathan Dunn, and Anna Dunn; and nine great-grandchildren: Branden and Avery Dunn, Calvin and Winnie Cotrell, Carter and Blaire Carpenter, and Andre, Delaney, and Mailia Jones.

Joyce graduated from Newton Local Schools in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, in 1947. She worked as an executive secretary at Hobart Corporation in Troy until her first child was born, when she became a full-time mother. With apologies to moms, sons, and daughters everywhere, she was the best mom ever! 

After her last child entered school, she went back to work, this time as a cook in the Covington Schools, where she worked for sixteen years.  Her family was always her top priority, and she spent her entire life putting the needs of others before her own. 

Like her husband, she was a long-time supporter of the Covington Buccaneers, and she was also a member of the Covington Presbyterian Church.

Joyce and her beloved husband, Frank, will be interred together during a private graveside service at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington, at the convenience of the family.
