Karen Elaine Hauck, age 72, daughter of the (late) Harry Junior and Ruth Ilene (York) Shafer, was born on August 4, 1949 in Piqua, Ohio. Karen was the only girl with five brothers, Ron Shafer, the (late) Gary Shafer, Denny Shafer, Kent Shafer and Tim Shafer. She attended Bradford Public School and graduated from Vandalia Butler. Karen received her degree in Interior Design from Sinclair Community College. She had a strong faith in the Messiah, Jesus, loved to study the word and consistently served the church.
She was married to Louis Frank Hauck on August 2, 1969. They traveled stateside and around the world while Louis served in the military for 30 years. They also went on many adventures in retirement, such as, white-water rafting, dog-sledding and visiting national parks and treasures. Lou preceded her in death on July 10, 2017. They have two children, David and Kenda.
Karen enjoyed gardening, Bible studies, hosting get togethers, going for walks in the Stillwater Prairie Reserve, playing piano and spending time with family and friends. Through the years some of her jobs included interior design, furniture sales and administrative assistant work. She peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home three short weeks after her stage four cancer diagnosis on Saturday, August 7,2021.
Her life will be cherished forever in the lives of her children: David Hauck and Kenda Justice; Son-in-law, Kevin Justice; grandchildren, Ashley and husband, Eric Fry, Iona Guerin, Mason Justice and fiancée, Olivia Hart, Aidan Guerin and one great-grandson, Kasen Fry.

Viewing 12:30 PM Thursday until time of service.
