Karolyn “Kay” Simon, age 86 of Covington, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the Versailles Health Care Center. Kay was born in Darke County, Ohio on April 15, 1938 to the (late) Elvin J. Hissong & Dorothy Irene (Westfall) Hissong Ferguson; had worked for Stanley, Covington and also Helen of Troy; was known in Covington as “Aunt Kay”; enjoyed flower gardening; enjoyed watching the Lifetime and Hallmark Channels and The Incredible Dr. Pohl on TV; the most important thing about Kay was that she was a dedicated babysitter, for her grandchildren and other families – she did love her babies! Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Norma Jean Hissong. Kay is survived by her husband of 67 years, James Simon; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joel & Melinda Puterbaugh of Bradford, Steve & Nikki Simon of Covington, and Chris Simon of Brownsburg, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Nick & April Simon, Sarah & Ryan Bensman, Kendra & Tom Nemunaitis, Kyle Simon, Landon & Sarah Simon, Shanon Puterbaugh, and Danniele Simon; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara “Joann” Penrod of Tipp City and Joyce & Cliff Reed of Louisville, Kentucky; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
