Lina Pearl Abernathy, age 88 of Troy, formerly of Bradford, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Ohio Hospice of Miami County, Troy. Lina was born in Clay County, Kentucky on November 20, 1936 to the (late) James Scalf and Della (Grey) Labig; was a graduate of Clay County High School; had worked as an Office Manager with Sears Hardware; was co-owner with her husband of Paul’s Pizza in Bradford; a member of the Bradford First Baptist Church; an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns; enjoyed reading, music and working crossword puzzles. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Abernathy in 1993; stillborn infant; two sisters, Edith Jeffrey and Doris Curry; half-brothers, Herbie Scalf, Merle Scalf, Boyd Scalf, and Billie Scalf. Lina is survived by her two children, Paul & Hayley Abernathy and Diane Jay & Stan Kenworthy; eight grandchildren, Heather & Shane Driver, Holli Beltz, Heidi & Ryan Scullen, Ben Abernathy, Bailly Abernathy, Emma Abernathy, Ethan Abernathy, Beau & Jennifer Jay; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Patti Bishop and Nora Hershey; two half-sisters, Edna May and Flo; two half-brothers, James Scalf and Freddie Scalf; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service 12 Noon Wednesday at Bradford First Baptist Church with Pastor Dane Driver and Pastor Dan Scalf officiating. Interment Gettysburg Cemetery. Visitation at the church 10:00 AM Wednesday until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio Hospice of Miami County.
