Lois Kay Kauffmann, age 84 of Bradford, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Ohio Hospice of Miami County, Troy. Lois was born in Edwardsville, Illinois on March 15, 1938 to the (late) Theodore & Eleanor (Gusewelle) Niemeier; a graduate of Belleville Township High School, Class of 1955; retired with 30+ years with Bradford School District, starting as an Aid for Elementary and Junior High, then became the Secretary for the High School, and then Secretary to the Superintendent; formerly had worked at Top Value, Dayton and Carling Brewery in St. Louis; attended St. John’s Lutheran Church, Covington and previously, Zion Lutheran Church, Tipp City where she also did volunteer work; volunteered at Hospice of Miami County and Bradford Library; enjoyed playing cards at the library, with her girls and crocheting and cross-stitch; enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, William “Bill” M. Kauffmann in 2009; and brother, Bill Niemeier. Lois is survived by her four children, Kevin Kauffmann & Tricia Bishop of Bradford, Wayne & Jennifer Kauffmann of Tipp City, Kay & Leroy Wise of Pleasant Hill; and Keith Kauffmann of Anna; seven grandchildren, Brayden Kauffmann, Taylor Kauffmann, Meghan Kauffmann, Alex Kauffmann, Zach Kauffmann, Kara & Zachary Flanigan, and Allison Wise; two sisters, Carolyn Rumer of Belleville, IL and Gail & Steve Brandt of Titusville, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Covington with Pastor Rachel Patterson officiating. Interment Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington. Visitation 4-7 PM Monday at Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio Hospice of Miami County.
