Marinus Bosma Obituary

Marinus Albert Bosma age 97 of Dayton, Ohio passed away Friday, November 4th at Soin Medical Center.  Marinus was born on 13 September 1925 to Albert and Helena Bosma in Arnhem, The Netherlands.  After immigrating to the United States on April 17, 1956, Marinus started his career at Process Equipment Company, Midwest Tool & Engineering, Technology Incorporated, West Milton Precision and Jodex before he started MM&T Corp. in 1973, later renamed Bosma Machine and Tool Corporation.  He was an active member of the Dayton Tooling & Machining Association currently known as the DRMA.  Marinus was awarded The Yad Vashem Medal of the Righteous Among the Nations in 2007 for his heroism during WWII hiding and protecting Dutch Jewish families and safely transporting them to safety at their own peril. He was separated from his family for 2 years during the war after their hiding place was discovered.  His name and the names of his mother and father are inscribed on the Wall of Honor in Jerusalem. He attended Brandt United Methodist Church for many years.  He and his loving wife Nelly, were members of the American Orchid Society.  They built a beautiful greenhouse on the back of their home that had a large variety of orchids they enjoyed.  They spent 23 years living in Fort Myers, Florida after retiring from the business, until they returned to Ohio and spent the last eight years at 10 Wilmington Place, Dayton, OH.  The couple loved traveling in their motorhome and were members of the Vogue Country Club for several years while retired.  They enjoyed the many friends they encountered while visiting all the 50 states.  They enjoyed having their grandchildren visit them in Florida or at their home in Ohio.

 

Preceded in death by his parents Albert Bosma and Helena Bosma-v.d. Pol.  Marinus leaves behind his loving wife of 73 years, Nelly Marie Bosma, sister Alberta Helena Iseli-Bosma, brother-in-law Martin Iseli (Jetty), sister-in-law Louise Iseli, his devoted children Lee Bosma (Joyce), Marinus “Ben” Bosma (Ginny), Irene Smallwood-Bosma (Martin), David Bosma (Cindy), loving grandchildren Eric Bosma (Aimee), Lori Bosma, Christopher Bosma (Sophie), Lisa Davenport (Ryan), Kimberly Arbogast (Blake), Jenna Korsog, Tracy Bosma, great grandchildren Ean Bosma, Sophie Schrader, Leo Schrader, Isabelle Russell, Aiden Bosma, Bella Arbogast, Brody Arbogast, Cohen Korsog, Nelly Korsog, Marlo Korsog and Lillian Bosma. 

 

Celebration of Life is being held Saturday, January 21st at 2:00 PM at the Arbogast Performing Arts Center, 500 S. Dorset Road, Troy, OH 45373.
