Melanie Jean Ritter

Melanie Jean Ritter, 70, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Vancrest -  Upper Valley after a two year battle with breast cancer.

Melanie was born October 21, 1955 to James and Betty Wolfe at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, OH.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Terry Ritter.

Melanie was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall, Sidney, OH.  She retired from Playtex Products after 30 years of employment.  She enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with family and friends.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson.

Melanie is survived by her son, Kyle (Virginia) Slade of Covington, OH; grandchildren, Samantha (Caleb) Withrow of Jackson Center, OH, Tucker (Lucinda) Wolaver of Covington, OH, Dawson Slade of Covington, OH, and Graceanne (Kyle) Lampley of Indian Head, MD; great-grandson, Caden Withrow; brothers, Jimmy (Connie) Wolfe of Little River, SC and Jeff (Debbie) Wolfe of Sidney, OH; brothers-in-law, Tony (Linda) Ritter of Houston, OH and Judd (Candy) Ritter of Sidney, OH; sister-in-law, Karlinda “Boots” Ritter of Pasadena, CA; other relatives and friends.

Her family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers at Vancrest-Upper Valley and Hospice of Miami County for all the love, support and care given to Melanie and the family.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Miami County.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, October 10th at 2:00 PM at Sidney Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall.  Condolences may be shared with the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
