Ouida Peacock Obituary

Ouida Mae Peacock, age 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 16, 2021.  She was born August 10, 1924 in Brooksville, Florida, to Jesse and Iva (Kreider) Root, spent her formative years in Darke County, Ohio and lived most of her adult life in Pleasant Hill, Ohio.  She was married 62 years to the love of her life, Lloyd Peacock who passed away in 2007.  Ouida was a sweet-spirited woman who cared for so many in her long life as a wife, mother, grandmother and Registered Nurse.  She never ceased to marvel at the intricacies of God’s design in nature and introduced that love to her children and grandchildren.  Camping throughout the United States was just one expression of her love of God’s creation.  She came to faith in Christ as a young teenager and served the Lord in a variety of ways through churches and ministries throughout her many years.   Having grown up in poverty during the Great Depression, she was always sensitive to the needs of those around her, feeling their pain and always attempting to help in any way she could.

Ouida is survived by her children: Marcia and the late Kenneth Kinsey of Ankeny, Iowa, Matha  and Jerry Schleinitz of West Milton, Ohio and Martin and Debbie Peacock of Eaton, Ohio; grandchildren: Gayle (Jeff) Verhelst, Jamey (Heather) Kinsey, Robert (Abby) Kinsey, Joel (Kimberly Moore) Schleinitz, Bethany (Bill) Wortman,  Ryan (Elizabeth) Peacock, and Charissa Peacock; seventeen great-grandchildren; and siblings: Bonnie (Mike) Silvers and James Root.

A memorial service will be held at the Eaton Community Church, 813 Camden Road, Eaton, Ohio on Saturday, April 24th at 10:30 am with visitation one hour before the service.  Dr. Dan Denlinger will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Ouida’s memory to the Brethren Retirement Community Benevolence Fund, 750 Chestnut Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
