Paul E. Stover, age 90, of Bradford, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. His final residency was Otterbein Senior Life Care, located in St. Marys, Ohio. He was born on May 30th, 1933 to Paul E. Stover and Dorothy L. (Hofheinz) Stover. He was a graduate of Bradford High School and went on to enroll in the Technology Program at DeVry University, located in Chicago, IL. From DeVry, he worked at Aero Products, in Vandalia, and in 1953, was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army, based in Germany.
Paul later had the opportunity to be part of a new era for Piqua at the Piqua Nuclear Generating Station, which was used as a demonstration project by the Atomic Energy Commission from 1963 – 1966. He later became an Engineer of New Technology with Hobart Bros., in Troy, from where he retired. With his long history of new technology training, he was always fascinated with the evolution of the devices that we currently use today.
Paul was very proud to have achieved Eagle Scout and always eager to share his journey with young men who also wanted to reach that goal. He served on the Bradford Board of Education, The Lion’s Club, served as a Lay Pastor, taught Sunday School, and proudly sang in the Choir.
In his retirement years, he worked part time at Meijer, in Troy, plus volunteered at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He was honored with numerous awards for his volunteer service.
Preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Janet (Hughes) Stover in 2022; his sister, Pat (Stover) Hubbard in 2021; brother-in-law, Charlie Hubbard in 2012; step-children, Robert (Robby) Lyme in 1966 and Rebecca (Lyme) Kubiak in 2015.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Diane (Larry) Polhamus, of FL, and grandson, Adam DuBois, of FL. He is also survived by his step-children, Luanne (Jim) Leistner of Greenville and Rodney Lyme, of FL; nieces, Cherie (Ed) Roeth of Covington, Robin Brown of Versailles, and Heidi (Mark) Brown of Bradford; plus, several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Paul felt the call to assist others in gaining knowledge on how the body works, so he chose to become part of the Boonshoft School of Medicine Anatomical Gift Program. Interment will be at Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford, where a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Special thanks to the entire Staff at Otterbein Senior Life Care and Grand Lake Hospice, in St. Marys. The past few years that he was there are included as some of his best years. Their love, compassion, and care, was much more than what he and the family could have ever imagined.
