Peggy Jean McDowell

Peggy Jean McDowell, age 81 of Tipp City, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Cypress Pointe Health Campus, Englewood.  Peggy was born in Piqua on September 2, 1944 to the (late) Donald & Helen (Sturgeon) Laughman.  She was a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1962 and retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 25 years of service.  Peggy and her husband, Dennis lived in Clearwater Beach, FL from 1972 – 1977; later residing in Piqua and Troy.    Peggy loved to travel and loved Florida, especially Ft. Myers Beach.  She also enjoyed eating out and playing bingo.  In her younger years, she was a member of a card club.  Most of all, Peggy was an avid shopper – she loved to shop!  Preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 55 years, Dennis Lee McDowell on June 19, 2025.  Peggy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Meredith & Stephen Goldsmith of Union, OH; two grandsons, Hunter Goldsmith and Lucas Goldsmith; two sisters and brother-in-law, Beverly Bashore of Piqua and Barbara & Randy Bradley of Sarasota, FL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ted & Rosie McDowell of Troy; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  Graveside Service 2:00 PM Friday at Highland Cemetery, Covington.
