Philip “Phil” Andrew Reck, age 62 of Bradford, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. Phil was born in Piqua on November 13, 1963 to the (late) Robert J. & Sue Ann (Rudy) Reck; was a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1982 and attended classes at University of Dayton. He was self-employed; baptized and member of the Common Ground Christian Church, Bradford; was an avid fan of Ohio State University – Ohio Buckeyes Football and the Cincinnati Bengals. In his younger days, he was a state pole vaulter and the 4x100 relay; was a weight-lifter, played ice hockey and was a peewee football coach, winning the Super Bowl several times. Phil enjoyed many things including raising Newfoundland dogs for 35 years and raising longhorn cattle. Loved his Volkswagens and singing “sometimes just to annoy his family”! Phil helped anyone who needed help and if he was your friend, he was a friend for life, but most of all he loved singing and silly dancing, and playing with his granddaughter, Harper Rae! Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rick Reck; and mother-in-law, Ruth Ann Shafer. Phil is survived by his wife of 44 years, Michelle Renee (Shafer) Reck; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Joshua Philip & Ashley Reck of Troy, Elijah “Mutt” & Kaitlyn Reck of Troy; granddaughter, Harper Rae Reck; his siblings, Robin Reck of Troy, Gretchen & Joe Schmidt of Covington, Alex & Renee Reck of Bradford; father-in-law, Bill Shafer; his dogs, Sawyer & Bernie; pet cow, Susie; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 18th at Common Ground Christian Church, Bradford with Pastors Dan Scalf and John Shelton officiating. Interment Highland Cemetery, Covington. Visitation 5-8 PM Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation online. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
