Rita L. Brumbaugh, age 93, a resident of Covington since her freshman year of high school, died Monday, November 8, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. She was born February 16, 1928 in Pleasant Hill, Ohio to the late Leo J. Minton and Mildred (Duncan) Gibboney; a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1946; a member of Covington Church of the Brethren since she was 12 years old; worked at Covington Savings & Loan, Sellman’s Furniture, the old Lumberyard, Covington Schools, and as a beautician; she loved to travel, was an avid reader and enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Preceded in death by her husband, Marion “Henry” Brumbaugh in 1995; daughter, Nancy Brumbaugh in 1969; and sister, Nan Sampson-Perttola.
She is survived by 3 children, Sharon (Steve) Root, Henry Brumbaugh, and Ted (Rhonda) Brumbaugh, all of Covington; 4 grandchildren, Doug (Robin) Root of Springboro, Matt (Shelley) Root of Louisville, OH, Kyle (Nicole) Brumbaugh of Tipp City, and Emily Brumbaugh Zimmerman of Beavercreek; 10 great grandchildren, Alex and Parker Root, Sidney, Karlee and Zachary Root, Olivia, Emma and Ava Brumbaugh, and Jack and Bennett Zimmerman; 1 great-great granddaughter, Rylee Gordon; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service to be held Friday, November 12 at 12 noon at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington with Pastor Mike Yingst officiating. Interment Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford. Visitation to be held Friday from 10 am until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made the Covington Church of the Brethren.
