Roger Hirsch Obituary

Roger L. Hirsch, age 88 of Piqua, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024.  Roger was born in Troy on January 6, 1936 to the (late) Ralph H. & Fannie (Howe) Hirsch; graduate of Miami Central High School, Class of 1955; served in the Ohio Air National Guard during the Cuban Crisis; was a retired machinist from Hobart Corp/ITW with 42 years of service; a member of the Grace Methodist Church, Piqua; a member of F&AM Franklin Lodge #14; member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton; former President of the Miami County Shriners and he transported children to Lexington hospital, for many years; was raised on a farm and after his retirement helped many farmers; loved his yard work but wasn’t allowed to touch Wanda’s flowers; enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids sports and activities. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Wanda L. (Grooms) Hirsch; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael & Cindy Hirsch of Troy, Mitchell & Spring Hirsch of Covington; seven grandchildren, Zac & Emily Collins, Nick & Kelsey Hirsch, Courtney Hirsch, Cameron Rank, Sheldon Rank, Brenna Hirsch, & Brody Hirsch; five great-grandchildren, Noah, Luke, Emma, Jaxon & Briella; brother and sister-in-law, John & Mary Hirsch of Ft. Myers, FL; niece and nephew by marriage, Scott Grooms of Indiana and Natalie Grooms of Telluride, Colorado; and many friends.  Gathering of Family and Friends 5-7 PM Thursday with Masonic Memorial Service and Scottish Rite Ring Service to follow.  Private family burial at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington with military honors provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriners Children Hospital.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
