Shirley J. Balmert

Shirley J. Balmert, age 76 of Bradford, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022 at her home.  Shirley was born in Piqua on August 21, 1946 to the (late) Clifford “Pete” & Mary Jane (Gordon) Sargent; was a graduate of Bradford High School, Class of 1964; retired with 24 years of service from Travelers Insurance Company; previously had worked for seven years at Whisman Door Sales; had also worked for John Cotner, Attorney at Law; a member of the Bradford Community Club; a member of the Covington Eagles Aerie #3998; loved to play cards; and enjoyed going to Grand Lake St. Marys where she and her husband has a home.  Preceded in death by her parents; and her cats, Megan, Josie & Tom, and many other cats and dogs.  Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Galen A. Balmert; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary & Vivian Sargent of Piqua, Jim & Denise Sargent of Bradford; two nephews, Brian (Allison) Sargent, Tim (Erin) Sargent; two great-nephews, Gabe Sargent & Colin Sargent; and great-niece, Kelsey Sargent.  Gathering of Friends 1-3 PM Saturday at Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Bradford.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio Hospice of Miami County or Bradford Community Club.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
