Shirley Yvonne Richard

Shirley Yvonne Richard, age 91 of Bradford, passed away today, March 4, 2026 at StoryPoint Assisted Living in Troy.  She was born in Franklin Township, Darke County on October 23, 1934 to the (late) Waldo & Naomi (Sharp) Weider.  Shirley was a graduate of Bradford High School, Class of 1952 and worked as a Teacher’s Aide for DeColores Montessori School in Greenville for 16 years,  where she was known for her peanut butter balls which she made at the school.  She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bradford where she was on the Festival Committee for over 30 years and on Parish Council; active with the Bradford Area Association of Churches and Bradford Resource Center.  Shirley enjoyed many things including being a proud Room Mother for 20 years, mowing her lawn, going to New Life Health Spa in Greenville, and a 4-H Advisor with the Country Cousins.  She was an avid bowler in her day and a Cincinnati Reds and University of Dayton Flyers fan.  She especially loved her family holiday get togethers where if you were lucky you would have her delicious cherry delight or no bake cookies and attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 61 years, Donald E. Richard in 2013; daughter and son-in-law,  Diana & Bill  Stanze; infant sister, Vivian Weider; three brothers, Jerome Weider, Paul Weider and Richard “Dick” Weider; and nephew, Jerry Weider.  Shirley is survived by her five children and their spouses, David & Debbie Richard of Bradford, Donna & Mark Grusenmeyer of Tipp City, Deb & Jim Meyer of Covington, Denise & Mike Tobias of Covington, Doug & Michelle Richard of Covington; 12 grandchildren, Melissa & Seth Ankrom, Emily & Jason Bridges, Krista & Nate Gibson, Megan Fair, Matt Richard, Jarod Meyer, Terry Junior “TJ” & Rachel Fair , Heather & Jordy Burelison, Holly & Jordan Monnin, Andrea & Grant Westfall, Donovan Richard and Sydney Richard; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Betty & Craig Peltier and Maxine Apple; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Mass of Christian Burial 12 Noon, Tuesday, March 10th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bradford with Father James Duell officiating.  Interment Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford.  Visitation at Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Bradford 10:00 AM Tuesday until time to leave for mass.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  Condolences may be shared with the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
