Velma Louise Lear, age 90 of Greenville, formerly of Covington and Bradford, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at home surrounded by her family. Velma was born in Piqua on January 8, 1936 to the (late) Harrison Supinger & Eva (Feight) Fullroth; worked for 20 years at Piqua Manor Nursing Home and eight years at FRAM; was a member of First Baptist Church of Bradford. She had a gift of making people feel welcomed with a home-cooked meal or just a helping hand. Velma was a beloved wife, grandma,, great-grandma and great-great-grandma who gave her whole heart to her family. Preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years, Richard Lee “Dick” Lear in 2014; her grandchildren, Toni Copley, Josh Grisez and David Phillips; great-grandchildren, Millie Phillips, Avram Lear; great-great-grandchildren, Indra Bingham and Ameliya Jean Smith-McCoy; her stepfather, Fred Fullroth; her siblings, Marion Supinger, Bill Supinger, Harrison Jr. Supinger, Max Supinger, Elizabeth Hudson, Marjorie Arnett, Mary Lou Applegate, Joseph Supinger, Tom Supinger, and Robert Supinger. Velma leaves behind a very big family that will remember countless memories they have created together. Velma is survived by her eight sons, Marty (Vicki) Lear, Jim (Carol) Lear, Gary (Diana) Lear, Ricky (Barb) Lear, Tim (Melissa) Lear, Kevin (Nancy) Lear, Herbert (Yvonne) Lear, Steven (Kelly) Lear; six daughters, Debra (James) Lear, Terry Jean (Randall) Lear, Cheryl (Mark) Copley, Tam (Andy) Lore, Christa (Doyle) Crick, and Karen (Randy) Sargent; 35 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Service 12 Noon Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Bradford with Pastor Dane Driver officiating. Interment Oakland Cemetery. Visitation 10:00 AM Wednesday until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Everheart Hospice, Greenville.
