Naomi Ruth (Shafer) Monnier

Naomi Ruth (Shafer) Monnier, 82, of Covington, died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the Upper Valley Medical Center Hospice Unit, Troy.  She was born in Bloomer, OH on January 6, 1936 to the late Harry R. & Ruth D. (Harshbarger) Shafer.  She is preceded in death by her brothers, Harry R., Joe R., Ivan L., Howard “Dean” Shafer, & Charles Daugherty; sister, Margaret Shuff; & son-in-law, Gary Carder.

Naomi is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harrison “Sonny” Monnier; daughter, Kimberley Carder of Covington; son, Rick (Dustina) Monnier of Troy; granddaughters, Laura (Larry) Pellman of Troy, & Emily Monnier of Tipp City; great granddaughters, Willow & Eden Pellman; 2 step-grandchildren, Alicia (Rike) Miller & Rusty Carder of Covington; brothers, Paul Shafer of West Milton & Bill (Ruthann) Shafer of Covington; sister, Mary Gridley of Dayton; sisters-in-law, Helen Shafer & Gloria Shafer of Bradford; brother-in-law, George (Ruby) Monnier of Houston; & numerous nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.

She graduated from Bradford High School in 1954 & worked at numerous jobs, the last being the Coachlight Dress Shoppe in Covington.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, etc., and was a selfless person, always putting everyone ahead of her needs.  There was never anything better to her than family.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday at 11 am at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home with Pastor John Shelton officiating.  Interment Miami Memorial Park Cemetery.  Friends may call Wednesday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covington Fire & Rescue.   Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
