John Samuel Hill, Sr.

John Samuel Hill Sr. age 89 of Bradford, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022 at his home.  John was born in Darke County on August 7, 1933 to the (late) Jeremiah Titus & Nora Belle (Miller) Hill, was a graduate of Bradford High School, Class of 1951; was retired from Air Products/Inland, Division of General Motors; established and operated Hill Insurance & Tax Service for 60+ years; had previously worked for Aerovent and NCR; started as a farmhand as a boy; was a member of the F & AM Gettysburg Lodge #477; an avid Ohio State University Buckeye fan and the Cincinnati Bengals; liked to go camping and fishing and enjoyed going to Lake Cumberland; loved his devoted cat, Sophie; but most of all, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their activities and spending time with his family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; son, John Hill Jr; two brothers, Jerry Hill Jr and Harold “Chalmer” Hill; four sisters, Sylvia “Eileen” Stanley, Helen “Mary” Heisey, Idonna “June” Manson, and Joanna “Jo” Garrett.  John is survived and will  be missed by his loving wife of 68 years, Patsy (Reed) Hill, whom he married on July 31, 1954; son, Mike (Brenda) Hill of Bradford; daughter, Lori (Kevin) Denning of Piqua, and daughter, Susan (Eric) Sotzing of Middletown; eight-grandchildren, Jason (Holly) Hill, Pamela (Jason) Todd, Courtney Denning (Kenneth Brunson), Brittney Denning (Cameron Harris), Emily Sotzing (Grant Wiles), Evan Sotzing, Josh Sotzing, and Sarah Hill; five great-grandchildren, Kendall Hill, Hudson Hill, Logan Todd, Mason Todd, and Chloe Todd; brother, Robert (Connie) Hill of Englewood; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  A Funeral Service to honor John’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Friday at Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Bradford.  Visitation will be 1:00 PM until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Everheart Hospice, Greenville.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
