Joseph Obenchain Jr. Obituary

Joseph Raymond Obenchain Jr., age 78 of Covington, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Hospice of Miami County following a brief illness. Joe was born in Troy on February 20, 1944 to the (late) Joseph Sr & Anna Jane (Leethy) Obenchain.

He was a member of the Covington Presbyterian Church for many years and later a member of the Living Word Church in Troy.

Joe was a lifelong resident of Covington and began his career at Piqua Paper Box Co., where he worked for 13 years.  Afterwards, Joe drove a semi and worked for Piqua Transfer and Storage.  Joe ended his work career and retired from Creative Extruded Products in Tipp City.

Preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Sherri J. Reynolds.  Joe is survived by his nephew, Jesse Reynolds (Shelly); niece, Jaime Myers; and great uncle to Ayden, Trent, Landon Reynolds and James MacDonald; and brother-in-law, Greg Reynolds (Shirley).

He loved Indy car racing and in his younger years would travel to Indianapolis each year to attend the time trials, and later watch the race at home with his hat turned backwards to rally his favorite driver.

Joe had many loving nicknames given him over the years, Bubba Joe, JoeJoe, and Slow Joe (the last was self-explanatory if you every drove behind him and you were in a hurry.)
