Marvin Eugene "Gene" Kraus

Marvin Eugene “Gene” Kraus Jr., age 76 of Troy, passed away due to a home accident on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at his home.  Gene was born in Piqua on March 23, 1946 to the (late) Marvin Eugene Sr. & Glenna (Powell) Kraus; graduated from Tecumseh High School, Class of 1964; served 2 yrs. In Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS) in Houston, Texas: worked as a Lineman for a total of 47 years, with 30 years at Dayton Power & Light and 17 with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW); a member of the Covington Church of the Brethren where he was head of the deacon board and on the camp board and was a camp counselor for many years; a member of the Gideon Bible Group;  a Lineman Apprentice Instructor with American Line Builders Apprenticeship Training (A.L.B.A.T.); and his family says he would “adopt people” – anyone that needed help, Gene was there.  Preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Riley Grace Kraus.  Gene is survived by his wife of 53 years, D. Elaine Kraus; three sons and daughters-in-law, Nick & Laura (Lakin) Kraus of Englewood, Ben & Misty (Magee) Kraus of Troy, Matt & Jen (Sredl) Kraus of Jamestown, IN; 11 grandchildren, Lindsay Rader, Brice Rader (Dani), Bailey Kraus, Joshua Kraus, Sydney Kraus, Jacob Kraus, Avery Kraus, Maverick Kraus, Hannabelle Millard, Grey Millard, & Baylan Millard; three great-grandchildren, Adrienne Houk, Emma Simmerman & Asher Rader; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve & Kay Kraus of Tipp City, Tim Kraus & Lois Gish of Cincinnati; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Memorial Service 11:00 AM Saturday at the Covington Church of the Brethren, 101 N. Wall Street with Pastor Mike Yingst officiating.  Visitation 10:00 AM until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Covington Church of the Brethren.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
