Miriam L. (Beard) Sweigart, 96 of Covington, died on April 30, 2016 in Troy.  She was born June 30, 1919, the daughter of the late Harry E. Beard and Josephine (O'Roark) Beard. She married William J. Sweigart on August 29, 1941 in the Covington United Church of Christ.  He preceded her death on May 26, 1985.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack A. Beard, David J. Beard, and a daughter Pamela Sweigart Johnson.  Survivors include her son David W. Sweigart and his wife Diana Sweigart of Troy; four grandchildren, Kara L. Byrnside and husband James Byrnside of Cincinnati; Matthew R. Johnson and his wife Megan Johnson of Humble, Texas; Andrew J. Sweigart and his wife Kimberly Sweigart of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Adam K. Sweigart of Covington; sister-in-law Nancy Beard of Twenty-Nine Palms, California and sister-in-law Eleanor Sweigart of Tipp City. Miriam was blessed to have six great grandchildren in her life; Alyssa Byrnside, William Byrnside, Marlee Johnson, Stella Johnson, Ian Sweigart, and Emerson Sweigart.  Extended family includes eight nieces, six nephews, five great-nieces, ten great-nephews, and many cousins. Miriam was a graduate of Covington High School, class of 1937.  She was a lifelong member of the Covington United Church of Christ; Covington Chapter #275, Order of the Eastern Stars, Avocation  Club, Piqua YWCA, and the Ohio Association of Retired School Employees.  She was employed by Covington Exempted Village School District as the school secretary at Covington High School, serving the district proudly for 20 years.  After her retirement, Miriam was a part time bookkeeper at the Coachlight Dress Shop.  Miriam also volunteered her time for various organizations in the area, most recently, for ten years at the J.R. Clarke Public Library. The family will welcome visitors on Tuesday at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington from 5 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:00 am at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Hathaway officiating. Interment will be in the Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Covington Alumni Association, or the J.R. Clarke Public Library in Miriam's name.
