David,
We are sadden by your mother's passing, but we appreciate that she had a good and long life. We last visited her about 18 months ago and were impressed with her strong spirit and her positive attitude. Our periodic telephone conversations will be missed. Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

One of my fondness memories in my life was visiting my Aunt Miriam and Grandmother in Covington. Every time I visited them in Covington I loved listening to them and my Mother laughing, telling stories and telling jokes. They thought the children were asleep and I would sneak down just so I could listen to them. I will miss my Aunt Miriam's optimistic outlook on life, her laughter, kindness and her cards that I received every birthday and every holiday (she never missed one). Aunt Miriam I will forever love you and miss you. Deedy

A precious spirit who once walked among us is now walking with The Lord. What a fine, gentle lady she was in every way. My heart warms as I remember her with great fondness. May God bless Miriam's entire family.....especially Kara & Matt who are dear to my heart. Sincerely, Kate McDaniel

We are saddened to hear of the passing of this very unique and wonderful lady! We've kept in contact with her since we left Covington, and we always enjoyed our visits with Miriam.

You, her loved ones, are in our thoughts and prayers. She is a loss for the community of Covington, which she loved.

I have known Miriam all my life as she and my mother Ruth Hedrick Miller were childhood playmates and remained friends throughout their lives. I loved spending time with Miriam because she was always interesting & full of local & family news. She was a mainstay at our church and I considered her one of my dearest friends. She made my day brighter each time we visited and now she is doing the same thing in heaven with her family there. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Farewell dear Miriam.

We the Smith Family in Texas shall remember the days gone by when we visited our Grandparents in Covington during the summer. After ice cream at the Miami County Dairy we would cross the street to stop and visit.

Granddaddy O'Roark [Frank] and "Grandmuddy" [Onda], along with Miriam would laugh at us impersonating Pam after Pam taught us her "Yappa Dappa Doo" hello skit. Emily Snell joined in our laughter. Meanwhile, David, you and my brother Scott played your own scene as young boys.

Just last year in April, I helped our Mother, Bette O'Roark Smith, to telephone Miriam to catch up. The telephone call rejuvenated both and it was a happy event for them. Shortly afterwards, in May last year, Bette left us for life in Heaven with our dad, James A. Smith.

I have thought so much of that call and how it joyed Bette that I called Elaine [Alexander] on Saturday, 30 April to ask if she had an update on Miriam--neither of us knowing Miriam had just walked with God. Perhaps Miriam whispered a silent goodbye.

May God Bless all and cherish her and the memories for ever.

Respectfully,
James Patrick Smith,
David A. Smith,
Shannon Smith Sims,
Scott Edward Smith

What was not to love about Miriam? She was one of the nicest people that I believe I ever have had the privilege of knowing. She will be greatly missed but so hope she is at peace. Our sympathies and prayers are sent to all of the family

Kara was so sweet to keep me informed. Miriam and Bill were best friends of my parents, so I have known her my entire life. I spoke with Miriam at least once a year and always keep in touch at the holidays. Because my mother passed when our oldest daughter was just six months old, Miriam decided to gift our girls a Hallmark christmas ornament every year until they graduated high school. I had a dear closeness to Miriam. She was the last of my parents friends so I feel a profound loss with her passing. Please know that I am thinking of all of you and will say a prayer on Wednesday.
