Louis A. Hartley, age 90, lifetime resident of Covington, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Clare Bridge of Troy.  He was born July 10, 1922 in Miami County to the late Ira and Hazel (Fisher) Hartley; a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1940; served in the U.S. Army during WWII; retired after 35 years of service from Dayton Tire and Rubber; a member of the United Church of Christ, Covington, since 1946; member of American Legion AB Cole Post #80, Covington; member and past president of Eagles Aerie #3998, Covington; 60 year member of F&AM Franklin Lodge #14, Troy; member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton; member of AMVETS Post #66, Covington.  Louis loved going to Reds games, playing cards and fishing.  His motto was "You work hard.  You play hard."
Preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 68 years, Wanda "Chris" Hartley in 2010; son-in-law, Larry Studebaker; brother, Paul Hartley; and sister, Betty O'Donnell.  Louis is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Deborah Hartley of Beavercreek and Ed and Jody Hartley of Covington; 3 daughters, Jane Ann and her husband, Dale Kenworthy, Karen Studebaker and Chris Simon, all of Covington; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff and Pam Hartley, Jennifer and Kevin Ketterer, Jerrod and Krista Miller, Jamie and Debi Miller, Jodi and Tim Fitzpatrick, Lisa and L.G. Henry, Andy and Brenda Kenworthy, Kari and David Butler, Angie Deeter, Tori and Darrell Hite and Nikki Simon; 23 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jim O'Donnell; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington with Rev. Allen Marheine officiating.  Interment Miami Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Tri-Village Memorial Color Guard.  Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday.
